The Coyote's Path, Memory of September, Paper or Plastic III, Untitled, Paper or Plastic II, and Paper or Plastic, oil & MM on canvas, exhibit strength in the use of textured abstract space, color and conceptual elements of form to convey ideology and rich emotion. All of the paintings convey poignancy through a unique perspective that resonates throughout the cohesive presentation. I feel that the work will be well received in New York and with our international audience.

The work of Latin American artist Ambiorix Santos reflects the strong influences of his life – issues he feels should be brought to light, the folkloric imagery of the indigenous Taino culture of South America, and the necessity to create as a response to mortality.

Santos creates mixed media abstract compositions that are explorations into expression through unstructured forms and texture. He achieves the highly textured surfaces—so important for the communication of his ideas—by mixing his oil paints with sawdust and incorporating elements such as paper, plastic or metals into the wet color. The works themselves glow with an inner light and the surfaces formed by his innovative use of plastics suggest bubbles of color in a sea of sand. The message that Santos communicates through these works is that harmony of the material and spiritual is fundamental, and of the dire consequences to our planet if we fail to maintain a balance between the two.

Ambiorix Santos grew up in the Dominican Republic and today lives in the United States. His works have been exhibited in numerous individual and group shows.
