Ambiorix Santos was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic. His career in art began in 1988, when he worked in the visual arts department of the Santiago Cultural Center, and where he attended classes (Evolution of Visual Art in the Dominican Republic and Influence of Folklore in the Art of the Dominican Republic, among others). In 1990, the artist became director of the gallery Yoryi Morel in that city. He considers himself self taught, and has participated in various exhibits in the Dominican Republic, Italy, and the United States.
